About
Real Life Community Church represents Jesus on Dalhousie University’s Studley campus. Everywhere around the world, Jesus is revealing himself to all people through those who follow him. Jesus leads his followers to grow and work together as “churches” who make him visible and accessible in their local context. While Real Life Community Church may not perfectly represent Jesus, we think he enables us to reflect him especially well in three ways:
Like Jesus, we balance truth and grace
We come from various denominational, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, so we don’t always see eye to eye with each other. But we realize that none of us has all the answers, so together we continue to seek these two things: to know the truth of Jesus and to show the grace of Jesus. We welcome everyone to take this journey with us.
Like Jesus, we’re personal
We’re quite small and this allows our gatherings to feel more like a family get-together than a formal ceremony. We try to see individuals as Jesus does, celebrating and caring for each person as someone made in the image of God. So, we love spending time together and sharing our Jesus-journeys with each other.
Like Jesus, we meet people where they are.
Doubts, questions, and struggles are important parts of our journeys with Jesus. We acknowledge these things and seek to support each other through them rather than hiding them. So, we try to build a culture of trust by showing compassion and listening, so that we can all be honest and vulnerable when we need to be.
